At Los Angeles Opera, I served as the opera-school liasion for the "All About Opera" tour with renowed mezzo-soprano Susanna Guzman. I created and delivered the first-ever Opera Kits program. The Opera Kits serve as instructional field trips in a box for school use. Each kit contains props, recordings, and standards-based integrated lesson plans for any teacher bringing students to the Student Dress night at the opera.
At Cincinnati Opera, I was the original author of the curriculum for the student opera "Nanita" based on the book "How Nanita Learned to Make Flan". These lesson plans provided teachers with a multi-faceted approach to integrating opera into their curriculum. From math to language arts to cooking, students could experience elements of the opera in the way that best fit their learning style as well as suiting the curricular needs of the teacher.
At the conclusion of my OA Fellowship, I accepted the position as the first Curriculum Specialist at San Diego Opera where I continued my work as an Opera Educator.
